The paint clumps

The main causes of paint clumping are thought to be the condition of the needle and dilution of the paint. Please check the following points.

1. Needle condition

The needle may be stained with paint or deformed. First, remove the needle, check its condition, and clean it.

The tip of the needle is very delicate, and even a slight bend can affect the spraying of the paint. If the needle is bent, we recommend replacing it with a new one.

*Needles are consumables, so we recommend replacing them regularly.

We also offer repair kits that include airbrush needles and nozzles.

2. Adjusting the needle position

If the needle position is incorrect, the spray may not spray properly. Follow the steps below to adjust it.

1. Remove the needle stopper and handle by turning them counterclockwise.

2. Unscrew the needle retaining nut counterclockwise.

3. The needle will be released, so move it back about 5 mm and then push it firmly forward again. *Please be careful not to push it too hard as this may damage the nozzle.

4. Reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly, and securely tighten the needle fixing nut.

3. Adjusting the needle stopper

When you pull the trigger, the needle retracts and the paint sprays out. The range of this movement (the amount of paint sprayed) can be adjusted with the needle stopper.

  • Turning the trigger counterclockwise increases the trigger pull and increases the spray volume.
  • Turning it clockwise will reduce the pull and the amount of spray. *Adjust according to your needs.

4. Diluting the paint

The dilution ratio for paint varies depending on the type and ingredients, but a general guideline is 1 part paint to 2-3 parts solvent. Add the solvent little by little with a dropper and mix with the toning stick to adjust the concentration. The ideal paint should drip slightly when applied to the edge of the plate (it should have a consistency similar to milk).

*Lacquer-based paints harden when water is added, so please be careful not to use water before use or when cleaning.

*For special water-based paints such as metallic colors, surfacers with grit numbers 1200 or less, top coats, and acrylics, a 0.3mm diameter handpiece and a 22PSI compressor do not have enough pressure, and large particles are likely to clog the paint.

Even experienced users may find it difficult to use.
